San Francisco
May 14th: It was cold and misty, but the sea lions at Fisherman's Wharf (Pier 39) mesmerized us for about 30 minutes. They slept, barked, crawled over each other, cuddled together, dove into the cold water, and magically hopped back onto the docks. It was wonderful!
Alcatraz:
Walking through Chinatown was great. Almost every doorway has produce spilling onto the sidewalk. We had a fantastic lunch at the Loving Hut, a Vegan cafe.
Clothes hung out to dry from apartments above shops:
Masses of cables keep the streetcars running.
The Ritz-Carlton, where the valets wear top hats!
No wonder San Francisco is known for some of the steepest climbs in the bicycling world! Notice the cable car making its way up the hill. We could hear the cables beneath the street pulling it up.
Chinatown Gate:
Leaving town on May 15th, another dreary day, we passed these buildings along US-101.
City Hall:
The Golden Gate Bridge:

Maw is enjoying the Rainbow Tunnel :))
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures of San Francisco. It's a city everyone should at least 'see'. I'll never forget the first time I saw the Golden Gate half shrouded in sea fog. I loved the place.
So glad you stopped there.
Love, M.
