Tok, Alaska II
On June 17th, we headed back to Tok and stayed in Tok RV Village this time. Here we are waiting in line at the RV wash. The rig was so filthy, it took us two full hours to wash it.
Nice and clean again in our slot next to Colin and Betty Linton of Florida. Unfortunately, all the dirt in the air kept Betty inside, but Colin and Barkley hit it off immediately.
During our stay in the Tok and Chicken areas, a wild fire started after a lightning strike just outside Tok and headed north. This shop, with its sod roof (and waiting lawnmower), was selling "I survived the fire . . ." shirts before it was even extinguished.
Wildflowers in Tok RV Village:
POISONOUS! Elegant Camas (Death Camas):
Twinflower, a sweet little plant only 3" high with 1/2" bell flowers:
Laura, from Georgia, and her great aunt Lyn and great uncle Fulton, from North Carolina. Laura is just developing an interest in wildflowers!
