Welcome!

Thank you for visiting The Haley Hiatus, aka Travels with Barkley, where we're tracking our year-long 2010 travel adventure. We'll post pictures and journal entries as we travel the country by a wandering route from Pennsylvania to, ultimately, Alaska and back. If our trip captures your interest, please stop in occasionally to see what we're up to.

Clicking on a photo will make it larger and clearer. For most of the pictures, once the bigger picture comes up, clicking on it again will make it even larger.

Seward, Alaska Part 3

July 11th: The woods across the road from the RV park were so inviting. Sue felt like she was in a cathedral in the midst of the tall trees and lush vegetation. Sue, Bill, and Barkley are barely visible in this picture, even though they're not far from the camera.

Karen was thrilled to find these gorgeous little woodland flowers. Wood Nymph, Shy Maiden, and Single Delight are a few of its names. Only about 2" high:

Each looking at something different:

Barkley, blazing his own trail:

Apparently, an animal hauled a bag of trash into the woods and rummaged through it. Sue, cleaning the cathedral:

Cow Parsnips near the road:

Later in the day, we walked down by the fish weir again. A juvenile bald eagle:

The same eagle we saw earlier?
